Saturday 12/1/2019

Summary: A sunny, light-wind day with small swell arriving.

Best Beaches: Smuggler's Cove, CGB, Brewer's, Josiah's, Lambert, Little Bay, Long Bay (E), Well Bay, Savannah Bay. 

Wind: East 9-11 knots
Seas: 4-5' NW - Medium swell arrives on BVI's North shores increasing throughout the day. Watch out for rip currents and shore break waves.
Rain: Some clouds but nothing more than passing squalls expected.
Cruise Ships: No ships
Warnings: Waves and currents will become more powerful through the day. Be aware of breaking waves and rip currents. Take care if visiting the Baths.

GSA's Hot Tips:
1. Stop by the BVI Farmer's Market in Road Town, all morning.
2. Surfing lessons at Surf School BVI, Josiah's Bay, morning only.
 

Sunday 13/1/2019

Summary: More sun, more swell, ENE breeze up a little.

Best Beaches: Smuggler's Cove, CGB, Brewer's, Josiah's, Lambert, Little Bay, Long Bay (E), Well Bay, Savannah Bay. 

Wind: ENE 12-15 knots
Seas: NNW 4-6ft Swell stays all day. Higher surf on BVI's North Shores so be careful.
Note: Inter-island channels on S side smooth.
Rain: None forecast, but expect passing squalls.
Cruise Ships: RT x1 (medium); VG x1 (small)
Warnings: Take car on N facing shores, watching out for rip currents and large breaking waves. Avoid the Baths. 

GSA's Hot Tips:
1. Paddle in the mangroves on Beef Island. 
2. Good day for inter-island excursions and snorkelling in sheltered spots on S side, Norman Island or Cooper Island.

Monday 14/1/2019

Summary: Winds stay ENE and lighten. Medium to small NW swell still there. Take care on N-facing beaches.

Best Beaches: While the NW swell is weakening, it lingers a little which means beachgoers should still look for protection from higher surf and strong currents, eg Smugglers Cove, CGB, Brewers, Josiah's Bay, Long Bay Beef Island, Well Bay.

Wind: ENE 10-14 knots becoming lighter all day.
Seas: 4-5ft - Medium to small continues to weaken through the day but seas on N shore still elevated.
Rain: None forecast!
Cruise Ships: RT x2 (medium/large); VG x1 (small)
Warnings: Be careful on N Shores. Stay alert for rip currents and breaking waves.

GSA's Hot Tips:
1. Great day for surfing lessons at Surf School BVI, Josiah's Bay.
2. Good day for inter-island excursions and snorkelling/diving in sheltered spots on South side of islands.
3. Still spaces available for GroundSea Adventure's morning Mangrove Paddle.
